Three-time World Series champion Jeremy Affeldt will serve as the keynote speaker at this year’s annual Cal Poly Humboldt Celebrity Dinner & Sports Auction.
Affeldt’s MLB career spanned 14 years and included time with the Kansas City Royals, Colorado Rockies and Cincinnati Reds, but he is best known for his seven years with the San Francisco Giants, where he was a member of the World Series winning teams in 2010, 2012, and 2014.
The 37th Lumberjacks annual fundraiser will take place on Saturday, April 15, at the Sapphire Palace in the Blue Lake Casino & Hotel.
The evening gets under way at 5 p.m. and all funds raised will go towards Cal Poly Humboldt student-athlete scholarships.
Affeldt has a postseason record of 2-0 in 33 games, with an ERA of 0.86 ERA, which is the third lowest in baseball history among pitchers with at least 30 innings.
Affeldt is also an active leader to end human trafficking and modern-day slavery and advocates supporting and feeding the hungry at home and around the globe.
He founded Generation Alive, a non-profit organization that teaches and inspires young people to act by serving others.
He also is the author of To Stir a Movement: Life, Justice, and Major League Baseball, and can be heard weekly on KNBR Radio as an analyst for MLB games.
Individual tickets for the event are $100 and a table for eight is $800.
