NCS playoff games to be broadcast live on local radio

Ray Hamill/HumboldtSports.com – The Fortuna boys will open the NCS playoffs at home against Healdsburg on Wednesday night.

By Ray Hamill — Three of the H-DN teams’ opening round games in the North Coast Section basketball playoffs will be broadcast live on local radio.

The postseason tournaments get under way on Tuesday night, with 13 local teams included in the brackets.

Tuesday night’s Division-5 game between the St. Bernard’s boys and John Swett will be broadcast live on MIX 95.1 FM, with Tag Wotherspoon calling the action from the Bay Area school.

And it should be a close matchup, with the home team seeded No. 9 and the Crusaders No. 8.

Tip off is scheduled for 7 p.m., with the pre-game show starting at 6:45 p.m.

Wotherspoon will be court-side once again on Wednesday night, when the Fortuna boys host Healdsburg in a Division-4 showdown.

This game should also be a close one and is another 8 vs. 9 seed matchup.

And once again, tip off is scheduled for 7 p.m., with the pre-game show starting at 6:45 p.m.

Also on Wednesday night, the Del Norte girls will open the Division-4 tournament with a home game against Ygnacio Valley, with the action being broadcast live on KPOD 97.9 FM as well as through DelNorteSports.com.

John Pritchett and John “Mad Dog” Horner will call the action, as they do for every Del Norte game.

Tip off is also scheduled for 7 p.m.

The Warriors are seeded No. 4, while Ygnacio Valley is No. 13.
