By Ray Hamill — Get ready for a busy night of playoff basketball action here on the North Coast.
The playoffs tipped off on Tuesday night with three local teams playing, but nine more will join the party on Wednesday night, including eight playing here on the North Coast.
From Miranda to Crescent City, seven different schools will host games, including a doubleheader of action at McKinleyville.
The action at McKinleyville gets under way at 5:30 p.m., when the boys host Kelseyville in the Division-4 bracket, with the McKinleyville girls then playing Middletown at 7 p.m.
The Mack boys are seeded No. 6, while the girls are seeded No. 5.
The other six games on the North Coast all tip off at 7.
Down at Miranda, the No. 3 South Fork boys will play No. 14 Potter Valley in a Division-6 matchup.
Moving up the coast, the Fortuna boys will host Healdsburg in one of two 8 vs. 9 seed matchups in the area.
That game will be broadcast live on MIX 95.1 FM.
Ferndale is also seeded No. 8 in Division 6 and will host No. 9 Calistoga.
In Eureka, the No. 3 St. Bernard’s girls will host No. 14 Cloverdale in Division 4, while at Arcata, the No. 5 Tigers will host No. 12 Middletown in a boys Division-4 showdown.
And rounding out a busy night here on the North Coast, up in Crescent City the No. 4 Del Norte girls will play No. 13 Ygnacio Valley in a game that will be broadcast live on KPOD 97.9 FM as well as through DelNorteSports.com.
One other H-DN team will be in action on Wednesday, with the No. 6 Arcata girls traveling to play No. 11 Fort Bragg.
The Timberwolves get to host the higher seed in that game because they are league champions.
The Ferndale girls, meanwhile, are seeded No. 1 in Division 6 but have an opening round bye and will host a game on Saturday.

Trinity Perston and the McKinleyville girls will host Middletown on Wednesday night.

Wonder what the explanation is for this being the case.
One would reasonably be cognitive that Arcata earned the host game site…
All league champions are guaranteed at least one home game regardless of seeding. After the first round home court goes by straight seeding.
