The McKinleyville boys are this year’s Logger Classic champions, which came down to points differential after both the Panthers and the host school won all three of their tournament games.
On Saturday, the Panthers beat St. Mary’s 70-39 in their final tournament game, while later in the day Eureka topped crosstown rivals St. Bernard’s 64-60.
McKinleyville’s Cody Whitmer was named tourney MVP after three strong days.
The Panthers senior scored 16 points, including four 3s, in another balanced offensive team performance on Saturday, as 10 of the 12 Mack players scored.
Jack Clancy scored a game-high 18 points in the win, while Bode Douglas finished with nine points, JT Nicholls eight and Flynn Creighton six.
Clancy and defensive standout Jordan Brown were both named all-tournament.
The Panthers are now 8-2 on the season.
The Loggers, meanwhile, improved to 5-4 after they win, moving above .500 for the first time this season.
Hans Chalmers scored 20 points in the win and was named all-tournament along with teammate Jahmil Rippey, who scored 16 points.
Evan Hodges also scored 16 points for the Loggers.
“We played pretty good,” Eureka head coach Jimmy Rodgers said. “We played pretty upbeat.”
Jamin Guilbert and Jordan Urban each also continued to play well for the Loggers, who are beginning to build some momentum after a slow start to the season.
“We just keep getting better and better,” the head coach said.
Seth Dyer scored a game-high 23 points for the Crusaders, who are now 5-5 on the season.
Dyer was also named to the all-tournament team, along with teammate Aaiden Burris, who finished with 20 points in the loss.

South Fork 55, Ferndale 48
The Cubs and Wildcats served up an entertaining early-season showdown in Saturday’s championship game at the Gene Cotter Memorial Tournament in Miranda.
South Fork’s Tommy Rotbergs scored 15 points in the win and was named tournament MVP, just one week after he was named MVP at the Potter Valley tournament.
“It was a super competitive game,” South Fork head coach Taylor Morrow said. “It was a battle till the end.”
John Harding capped an impressive tournament with 14 points for South Fork and also played some strong defense, while Rubin Lopez gave the Cubs some “amazing minutes off the bench and provided needed scoring and rebounding,” according to the head coach.
Harding and Shevy Bero-Vanmeter were each named all-tournament.
No final stats were immediately available for Ferndale.
The Cubs are now 10-2 on the season, while the Cats are 8-4.

Fortuna 67, Yuba City 55
The Huskies placed first at the Nevada Union tournament with a second straight victory on Saturday.
Russell Pascascio led the way offensively with 25 points in the win and had two big inspirational dunks.
“They had no answer for Pascascio in the paint,” head coach Norm Sotomayor said.
Alfonso Medina finished with 14 points and was named tournament MVP, while Dylan O’Loughlin had 10 points and Cody Collins had eight.
O’Loughlin was named to the all-tournament team and was the “glue that kept us together,” according to Sotomayor.
Jake Houseworth also continued to impress in the win and was a force on the boards.
With the win, the Huskies improved to 8-4.
Pleasant Valley 71, Arcata 45
The Arcata Tigers dropped their final game at the Red Bluff tournament on Saturday, falling to a very good Pleasant Valley team.
Luke Moxon scored a team-high 15 points in the loss, while Kalani Butor had 11 points and Brandon Bento-Jackson had nine points.
“We definitely played them tough,” said Arcata head coach Kellen Maynard, whose team is now 6-4 on the season.
Moxon and Butor were both named all-tournament while the head coach also praised the play of Bento-Jackson, who was outstanding defensively, as usual.
The Tigers closed out tournament 2-1.
Moxon also had 22 points in Friday night’s 69-43 win over Red Bluff, while Butor had 12 points and Bento-Jackson 11.
“I thought we really progressed,” Maynard said of the overall tournament performance. “Some of the younger guys got some really good experience this weekend.”

Del Norte 46, Durham 41
The Warriors topped Durham by five points in the third-place game at the Anderson tournament on Saturday.
One day after losing 62-55 to Orland, the Del Norte players quickly bounced back and improved to 6-7 on the season.
Ethan Thomas, Westyn Fitch, Kai Russell and Collin Tromble all played well in the win, while Ayden Antonetti gave his team a spark off the bench.
The Warriors fell behind 12-3 early in the game, but quickly took control with a 22-4 run.
Turnovers were a problem for the Warriors against Orland, in what head coach Cris Rice described as an “ugly game.”
The Warriors will play at the Windsor tournament next week, opening against San Marin on Wednesday.
