St. Bernard’s girls win Cloverdale tournament

It has been an impressive start to the new basketball season for the St. Bernard’s girls, who continued to roll at the Cloverdale tournament on Saturday morning.

The Crusaders made it three wins out of three tournament games to go to 3-0 on the season, defeating Windsor 64-48 in the championship game.

Madelyn Shanahan, who only recently was named MVP of the Little 5 in volleyball and co-MVP of the Little 4 in soccer, took home yet another award on Saturday.

The standout junior was named tourney MVP after scoring 26 points in the championship game.

Laila Florvilus also has impressed early in the season and finished with 13 points on her way to being included on the all-tournament team.

Jocelyn Sundberg also had a good championship game and finished with nine points, while Aliyah Vigil chipped in six points and Aimayah Her five.

“I’m so proud of the amazing Lady Crusaders,” head coach Matt Tomlin said. 

The Crusaders won their three tournament games by an average of just over 21 points.

Next up, the SB girls will play at the Mt. Shasta tournament, which tips off on Thursday.
