The freshman guard from North Medford has impressed since joining the Corsairs and had a career night in Friday’s 88-58 win over Mendocino at the Coach Treggs Classic.

“Trey got us off to a really hot start and somehow found a way to cook at that temperature all night,” CR head coach Ryan Bisio said.

Jon Nchekwube also had a big night and finished with 16 points in the win, while Kai Purcell added 12 points.

The win lifts the high-flying Corsairs to 12-1 on the season

“There were some emotional rollercoasters we went through together tonight which will service us well moving forward,” Bisio said. “We displayed growth in our ability to remain composed.”

The Corsairs, who are ranked No. 14 in the state in the most recent coaches poll, will face a tough challenge when they travel to play at Contra Costa on Tuesday.

“We’re going down and playing an elite level team on Tuesday in terms of explosive talent,” the head coach said. “We’ll celebrate our performance tonight, but knowing these guys they’ll be ready for our next challenge.”

Tuesday’s game is at 5:30 p.m.
