Humboldt Crabs Baseball
By Ray Hamill — As usual, the season has flown by.
For local baseball fans there are four more chances to check out the 2022 Humboldt Crabs this summer, before the season comes to an end on Sunday afternoon.
The longtime local summer collegiate club improved to 32-10 with a 10-1 win over the Fresno Athletics on Tuesday night, and have been red hot in recent weeks.
The Crabs and A’s conclude their two-game midweek series at the Arcata Ball Park on Wednesday night at 7 p.m.
The Crabs will then host the Sacramento Yankees in a three-game series to close out this weekend.
And having the fans back full force this summer for the first time since 2019 has been one of the highlights of the season.
“This year has been how I remember it most years,” manager Robin Guiver said. “Last year was limited and this year we’ve had great crowds almost every night and I expect that to continue this week.”
It’s something players always seem to appreciate too.
“It’s an eye opener for some of the guys,” Guiver added. “I’ve talked to a few of them about it and they’re like, ‘this is amazing.’ They show up cold or hot and they show up ready to go.”
The fans have certainly enjoyed the summer too. Since a mid-June six-game losing streak, the Crabs have now won 24 of they past 26 games.
