
Humboldt Crabs Baseball – Javier Felix rounds the bases after hitting a home run on Tuesday night.
The Humboldt Crabs exploded for 34 runs over two nights to secure a two-game midweek sweep over TKB Baseball at the Arcata Ball Park.
On Tuesday, the Crabs scored 15 runs in the first two innings on the way to a 26-2 win in seven innings, and they followed that with a shutout on Wednesday, winning 8-0.
Javier Felix continued to impress for the home team in the series opener, finishing 3-for-5 with a home run, a triple and four RBIs.
Aaron Perez also hit a home run in the win, while Tyler Davis had a triple and a double.
Former McKinleyville Panther Cameron Saso also had a good night and finished 2-for-3 with a double, two walks, two runs and two RBIs.
Eureka High graduate Hayden Bode pitched two innings in relief, allowing two hits and no walks and striking out four.
Marcelo Saldana got the start on the mound and threw five innings of two-hit ball for the win, while striking out nine.
The impressive Saldana is now 6-1 on the summer.
Colby Lunsford provided the offensive highlight of the night on Wednesday with a first-inning home run as the Crabs struck early for the second straight night and led 4-0 after two innings.
It was Lunsford’s second home run of the summer.
Ethan Brodsky pitched five hitless innings for the win on the mound and struck out five.
The Crabs, who improved to 28-10, will open a three-game series against Seals Baseball on Friday night at 7 p.m.
