
Humboldt Crabs Baseball
The Humboldt Crabs kept their good run going with a thrilling victory at the Arcata Ball Park on Friday night.
Cary Arbolida drove in the game-winning run in the bottom of the 10th inning to secure a 4-3 walk-off victory over the West Coast Kings.
The win was the Crabs’ 12th in the their last 13 games as they improved to 20-9 on the summer.
Colby Lunsford led the way at the plate for the Crabs and finished 3-for-4 with a home run, an RBI and a walk, while teammate Javier Felix was 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI.
The home run was the first of the season for Lunsford, who has been one of the team’s top performers and is batting a team-best .448.
Andrew Esperanza also had a double.
The Crabs put up one run in each of the second, third and fourth innings to take a 3-0 lead, but the visitors tied the game with three runs in the top of the eighth.
Mathew McConnell got his third win of the season in relief, pitching the final two scoreless innings and striking out two.
Nick Leehey, and Lane Oliphant each also had a hit.
The two clubs continue their three-game weekend series on Saturday night at 6:30 p.m, before closing out on Sunday at 12:30 p.m.
Since losing six straight games in late June, the Crabs have rediscovered their form, with Wednesday’s loss to the Redding Tigers the only blemish on their schedule in the past three weeks.
After this weekend’s series, the Crabs will welcome the Medford Rogues to Arcata for a two-game midweek series, which begins on Tuesday.
