Busy night of action planned for Redwood Acres Raceway this weekend

Local racing fans will be treated to a bumper night of action at the Redwood Acres Raceway on Saturday.

The fourth event of the season at the local raceway will feature the Late Models Firecracker 100, presented by Harper Motors, as well as the Upstate Bomber Series, which will be visiting he North Coast for the first time this summer.

The night’s action will also feature a fireworks display after the races.

Big bucks will be up for grabs in the Firecracker 100, with at least $2,000 going to the winner, $1,500 for second and $1,000 for third.

The minimum payout to start the Late Models feature is $750, and if more than 12 cars start the race, the purse for the top three finishers will increase by $1,000 each.

Also at stake will be important season series points, with David Henderson currently leading the way in a tight race and holding a slender three-point advantage over Mike Doss.

Local Bomber racers will get the chance to test themselves against the the top drivers in the Upstate Bomber Series. 

Jordan Krupa currently leads the local season standings, with Steve Kimberling 21 points back in second, followed by Raquel Krupa and Kadence Toland, who are tied for third. 

The winner of the Upstate Bomber feature will earn $1,000.

The Legends, Mini Stocks and Roadrunners will also be racing.

The always competitive Legends division is led by Tyler Avelar, who has a two-point advantage over Jordon Paiment, with Maleesa Miles currently third.

Jarrett Mayo’s lead in the Mini Stock championship standings is eight points over Gary Klinetobe, with Cole Peterson 12 points farther back in third.

In the Roadrunners division, Tanisha Ratzlaff’s advantage over Jeremiah Martin is only three points, with Dylan Ford 10 points father back in third.

Tickets for this Saturday’s event can be purchased for $10 online at RacinTheAcres.com, as well as at Automasters and Don’s Rent-All in Eureka, McKinleyville Barbershop, and JC Auto in Fortuna. Tickets will also be available at the gate on race day. The race will be livestreamed on RacinTheAcres.tv and SpeedSport.TV for $15. 

Grandstands open at 4 p.m., with the racing starting at 5:30.
