
Humboldt Crabs Baseball – Merek Sears delivers a pitch on Friday night.
The Humboldt Crabs won their third straight game on Friday night, defeating the Sacramento Saints 8-6 in an entertaining showdown at the Arcata Ball Park.
Three former H-DNL pitchers combined on the mound in the win, with Arcata’s Merek Sears getting his second victory of the summer and improving to 2-0.
The University of Houston bound Sears threw 7.2 innings and allowed nine hits while striking out eight and walking three.
St. Bernard’s Caleb Ruiz struck out the final batter in the eighth before McKinleyville’s Cameron Saso came in to close out and redfcorded his team-leading third save of the summer.
Offensively, the Crabs scored their eight runs on 13 hits, including four doubles.
Cary Arbolida continued to impress and finished 3-for-5 with two RBIs, while Javier Felix, Tyler Davis and Nick Leehey each had two hits.
The Crabs are now 11-8 and will continue a three-game weekend series against the Saints on Saturday night, with first pitch set for 6:30 p.m.
