Cary Arbolida continued his fast start to the new season and four local pitchers saw time on the mound, as the Humboldt Crabs won a pair of road games at Medford on Tuesday and Wednesday.

The Crabs beat the Rogues 7-2 and 11-5 and improved to 3-0.

Arbolida, who hit two home runs in Friday night’s season opener against the Humboldt Eagles, finished 4-for-4 with a triple in Wednesday’s win.

Teammate Colby Lunsford also had a big night on Wednesday and was 3-for-5 with two RBIs, while Andrew Eseranza was 2-for-5 with a solo home run.

The Crabs took a two-run lead in the top of the third and would add two more runs to lead 4-0 midway through the sixth inning.

Marcelo Saldana got the win on the mound, allowing just two hits and one walk in five innings.

Former H-DNL players Garrison Finck and Merek Sears each pitched in relief.

Sears, an Arcata graduate, struck out three in one hitless inning, while Finck allowed four hits and struck out two in three innings.

In Tuesday’s win, the Crabs were out-hit 11-7 but took advantage of three Medford errors and plated runs in five of the nine innings they went to bat.

They led 6-2 after three and scored four more runs in the seventh to open up a seven-run lead.

Jordan Petrushka led the way at the plate and finished 2-for-4 with a double, three RBIs and two runs.

Eureka’s Jackson Giacone got his first Crabs hit before graduating high school and was 1-for-4 with an RBI.

Mathew McConnell got the win on the mound, allowing five hits and two walks in four innings.

Eureka’s Hayden Bode and McKinleyville’s Cameron Saso each pitched an inning in relief.

The Crabs return home to play the San Luis Obispo Blues in a three-game series at the Arcata Ball Park this weekend, with game one set for Friday night at 7 p.m.
