By Ray Hamill — Just three months after winning the H-DNL’s first-ever North Coast Section and NorCal double in boys basketball, some of the St. Bernard’s players are now on the verge of replicating that remarkable feat on the baseball field.
That elite group includes Aidan Dorsch, Drew Vizenor, Peyton Smith, Brayden Luna, Tyler Dimmick and Deshaun Bailey, each of whom will be on hand on Monday afternoon when the Crusaders play Alpha Charter in the Division-3 NorCal championship.
It has been an incredible run of playoff success for these players, most of whom have played a pivotal role on both teams.
In late February and early March, they won seven straight playoff games in basketball, culminating with a 48-34 victory at Weed in the NorCal Division-6 decider.
That memorable run also included a 61-58 victory over Valley Christian in the Division-6 NCS championship.
Now they’re doing it again on the baseball field, riding a five-game winning streak heading into Monday’s Division-3 NorCal championship game, including four shutouts.
If they win the NorCal championship in baseball, this elite group of players will leave in their wake an H-DNL legacy of success that will be difficult to match.
