The Huskies continue to be a fun team to watch this year and as clutch as any team in the H-DNL.
On Saturday morning, they rallied from a late deficit for the second straight day at the Cloverdale tournament on the way to defeating Credo 8-7.
The Huskies trailed 7-2 heading into the final inning, but found a way to win a game that appeared to have gotten away from them, just one day after scoring five runs in the seventh inning to overcome a late 2-0 deficit against Clear Lake in the their tournament opener.
The win was the sixth straight for the Fortuna girls, who have yet to lose this season, and it sends them into the tournament championship game against the host school.
The decider was scheduled for Saturday afternoon but was rained out, and it will now be played on April 23rd in Cloverdale.
Mariah Bravo got the late rally started with a lead-off walk in the bottom of the seventh, before Catherine Duncan singled to keep the momentum going.
The Huskies would go on to scored six unanswered runs for the walk-off victory, with Zoe Dewberry scoring the wining run on a passed ball.
Kylee Fennell had the offensive highlight of the game, hitting a solo home run over the left field fence in the fifth, while also driving in two runs for the game.
Libby Johnston led the Huskies offensively and was 3-for-4 with a double, while Dewberry was 1-for-4 with a double and two RBIs and Kelsi Hall was 1-for-4 with two RBIs.
Mariah Small also had a hit in the win.
Fennell got the win in the pitcher’s circle in relief of Johnston, who pitched 5.1 innings.
