By Ray Hamill — The Little 4 features heavily in this year’s CIF NorCal basketball Division-VI playoff brackets, with the possibility of a pair of all-local regional semifinals next weekend.

The brackets were announced on Sunday, with four local teams in the mix, including two who will open at home.

Fresh off their North Coast Section championship victories on Saturday night, the Ferndale girls and St. Bernard’s each received a high seed in their eight-team brackets.

The Wildcats are seeded No. 2 in the girls bracket and will open at home to No. 7 Weed, while the Crusaders are seeded No. 3 in the boys bracket and will open at home to No. 6 Elliot Christian.

Both games are scheduled for 6 p.m. on Wednesday night.

Both South Fork teams also are included in the bracket.

The South Fork boys are seeded No. 7 and will play at No. 2 Redding Christian on Wednesday at 6 p.m., while the girls are seeded No. 6 and will play at No. 3 Valley Christian, also on Wednesday at 6.

If all four H-DNL teams win on Wednesday, there will be two all-local semifinals on Saturday, with the boys teams playing at St. Bernard’s and the girls at Ferndale.

Fall River received the top seed in the girls bracket, while Weed is No. 1 for the boys.
