By Ray Hamill — As expected, both College of the Redwoods basketball teams were included in the NorCal playoff brackets released on Sunday, with both receiving a No. 14 seed.
And that mean’s a first-round play-in game for the men, who will host No. 19 Diablo Valley College on Tuesday at 6 p.m.
Also on Sunday, sophomore Ashley Quigley was named to the all-state third team for the second time in two seasons as a Corsair.
In the men’s playoff bracket, the top 13 seeds all received automatic qualification for the second round, while Nos. 14-19 will all play in the first round on Tuesday.
The men’s showdown will give local fans one more opportunity to see the Corsairs’ sensational sophomore class in action here on the North Coast.
The school is expected to announce ticket details in a press release on Monday morning.
The winner of Tuesday’s game will play at No. 3 College of the Sequoias on Thursday.
The CR women, meanwhile, also are seeded No. 14 but do not have a first-round play-in game on Tuesday and will play at No. 3 San Francisco City College on Thursday.
Quigley is coming off another outstanding season for the team, finishing second in the GVC in scoring with 19.8 points a game and leading the conference in 3-point shooting percentage with an impressive 44.4 percent.
