The Eureka Loggers won a pair of games in H-DNL soccer against St. Bernard’s on Tuesday, with the boys winning 8-1 and the girls 6-1.
The Eureka boys, who have lost just once in their past five games, had two goals each from Ean Savage and Tomas Paoli.
Paoli had a big impact on his return from injury, scoring twice in his first 10 minutes on the field this season.
In-form freshman Trenton Gerber also scored, as did Luis Romero, Makai Dennon and Aidan Sloper.
“The team played well overall,” head coach Eddie Garcia said.
Samual Matysek scored the only goal of the game for the Crusaders, the third straight game he has found the back of the net.

The Loggers bounced back from Saturday’s loss to Arcata and comfortably took care of business against a dangerous St. Bernard’s team in cold conditions on Tuesday.
Kira Morris scored a hat trick in the win, her first-ever in high school, with additional goals form Lila Ekholdt, Lorena Hernandez and Ella Tollefson.
“I thought in the first half we were pretty flat and you could tell there was still some disappointment from Saturday,” head coach Tommy Learmouth said. “In the second half the group refocused and started putting the pieces back together and got back to what they do best.”
Morris was particularly impressive in attack, and played with a striker’s instinct, finding herself in the right spot on several occasions.
“She never quits on the ball,” Learmouth said. “She just has a motor that doesn’t quit.”
Ekholdt also continued to impress, as did the ever-reliable Maia Hales in defense and Paige Rodgers, who is enjoying a breakout season with the team.
Emma Wilson scored St. Bernard’s only goal.
Wilson has been a consistent threat for the Crusaders and also netted in a 3-0 win over South Fork on Friday.
Freshman Laila Florvilus also scored twice against South Fork, both in the first half, as she enjoyed a breakout game for the team
“Laila Florvilus had an incredible game,” head coach Danny Roscoe said.
