By Ray Hamill — The much-anticipated annual Milk Can showdown between Fortuna and Ferndale on Friday night has been moved up half an hour.

The game will now kick off at 7 p.m., with no JV contest scheduled.

The two local schools have split the rivalry matchup over the past two seasons, with Ferndale upsetting the odds in Fortuna two years ago, and the Huskies responding with a big win at Ferndale this past spring.

Friday’s game will take place at Fortuna High.

Both teams opened the season this past weekend with varying results.

The Huskies won at home, getting the better of Justin-Siena 27-20 in a hard-fought battle.

A new-look Wildcats team, meanwhile, lost a tough one at Clear Lake, falling 33-8.
