The Redwood Acres Raceway hosted the largest crowd at a sporting event in Humboldt County in at least a couple of years on Saturday night, as around 3,000 fans showed up for the Firecracker 100 and the fireworks display afterwards.
Despite foggy and misty conditions leading to a brief delay, there was plenty of excitement out on the track, with David Miller dominating the Firecracker 100.
Miller took the lead at the drop of the green flag and never looked back, taking the main event victory ahead of David Henderson in second.
Luke Hall, Scott Baker and Nick Ford rounded out the top five.
The Upstate Bombers made their only stop of the season at the local raceway, with Trystan Mucci taking the main event.
The 40-lap race featured some of the best action seen at the Acres in recent years with a couple of local drivers in the mix, including Dustin Walters, who placed second, and Donnie Brown in third.
Loren Powers, Jr. and Mikey Collins placed fourth and fifth.
In other racing action on Saturday, Bob Ratzlaff took first place in the Roadrunners main event, followed by Dylan Ford, Brian Hopkins, Tanisha Ratzlaff and Nick Ford.
In the Mini Stocks, Gannon Cyphers held off a late charge by Brian Murrell, Jr. to take the checkered flag, with Jarrett Mayo, Cole Peterson and Sam Brown rounding out the top five.
Brandon White took first in the Legends main event, followed by Cameron Austin, Chris Lawrence, Brett Murrell and Jordan Paiment.
Racing action returns to the local track in two weeks.
