Ethan Fischel and Gabe Giosso combined for five doubles on Sunday as the Humboldt Crabs won the series decider against the visiting Solano Mudcats at the Arcata Ball Park by a score of 19-1.
The Crabs opened the three-game series with a 14-2 win on Friday, but dropped game two on Saturday, 6-1.
The red-hot Fischel, who is one of three local players on the team this summer, finished 3-for-4 with three doubles in Sunday’s win, and scored five of his team’s runs.
Fischel has been on fire at the plate recently, hitting six doubles in his last three games after managing two through the opening 14.
He is now batting .290 on the season, an impressive mark for a wood bat team.
Giosso, meanwhile, was 3-for-3 with two doubles in Sunday’s win and has now hit successfully in 12 of his last 13 games.
Giosso leads the team with a .413 average.
The Crabs are now 17-5 and will play the Perth Heat in a single game on Tuesday, followed by a matchup against the Petaluma Leghorns on Wednesday.
Both games are set for 7 p.m.
