Hoopa bats continue to impress in doubleheader sweep

The Hoopa Warriors remained unbeaten in H-DNL softball on Saturday with a doubleheader sweep at Ferndale, winning 28-3 and 20-4.

A total of 11 different Hoopa girls hit successfully in the sweep, as the Warriors improved to 7-0.

Savannah Colegrove was instrumental once again, finishing with six hits on the day, including two triples and three doubles, while also getting the win in the pitcher’s circle in game one.

Colegrove struck out seven and walked one.

Tatianna Colegrove also had a big day at the plate and in the circle, finishing with four hits, including three doubles, while striking out five and walking one for the win in game two.

Beyonce Bussell added four hits, including a triple and two doubles, as did Diamond Bibancos, who had two doubles, and Nalani Colegrove, who had three doubles.

Jewely Bibancos and Nae-rew Martin each had three hits, while Bethany Masten had two, and K-Lynn Dowd, Bella Valentine and Presley Orcutt each had one.

The undefeated Warriors have already beaten two Big 5 opponents — Arcata and Fortuna — and are 5-0 against L4 opposition.

Next up, they host St. Bernard’s on Tuesday.
