SOFTBALL ROUNDUP — Loggers, Warriors continue their fast start

Tatianna Colegrove hit two home runs on Tuesday afternoon as the Hoopa Valley bats continued to impress in a 21-0 win over visiting St. Bernard’s.

Colegrove finished 4-for-4 and was one of eight Hoopa players with at least two hits.

Her sister Savannah Colegrove also had four hits on the day and was the winning pitcher.

Savannah allowed just two hits and no walks, while striking out 11.

With the win, the Hoopa girls improved to 4-0 on the young season.

Jewely Bibancos and Bethany Masten each also had three hits in the win, while Diamond Bibancos, Beyonce Bussell, Nae-rew Martin and Bella Valentine each had two hits and K-Lynn Dowd one.

Next up, on Saturday Hoopa hosts Ferndale and St. Bernard’s plays at South Fork.

Eureka 9, South Fork 0

The Eureka girls kept their unbeaten start to the season going with a comfortable win over visiting South Fork on Tuesday.

And once again they won with strong performances from both the seniors and some of the younger players.

Senior Sadie Hampton and sophomore Claire Maples led the way at the plate in the win.

The ever-consistent Hampton finished 2-for-4 with a run and an RBI, while Maples, who continues to be a force on both sides of the plate, was 2-for-4 with two RBIs and a run.

In the circle, senior Alexa Morehouse and sophomore Kira Morris combined to pitch a no-hitter against the smaller school.

Morehouse struck out nine in four innings, while Morris struck out seven in three innings.

Eureka improved to 4-0.

Next up, Eureka is scheduled to play at Ferndale on Wednesday while South Fork hosts St. Bernard’s on Saturday.
