Fischel remains red hot at the plate, homers again

Kendrick Arakaki/Willamette University – Ethan Fischel rounds the bases after a recent home run.

Eureka’s Ethan Fischel can’t stop hitting home runs for the Willamette Bearcats.

The former Logger, who will play for the Humboldt Crabs this summer, homered again this past weekend, as the D-III Bearcats swept a four-game series against Whitworth.

After hitting two home runs in the first 20 games of the season, the junior shortstop now has five in his last eight games, including a recent two-home run performance against Lewis & Clark.

Fischel has also hit safely in nine straight games, including multiple hits in five of those.

For the season, the 2018 Eureka graduate has started all 28 games and is now batting .308 with seven home runs, five doubles 30 RBIs and four stolen bases.

The Bearcats are 19-9 on the season.
