McKinleyville’s Isabella Sundberg was top golfer for the fourth time in four H-DNL outings at Arcata’s Baywood Golf and Country Club on Monday.
Sundberg continued to dominate with a season-best round of 73, shooting a 36 on the front nine and a 37 on the back nine.
Arcata senior Mari Pepper had the second best round of the day for the third straight week, shooting an 88.
Sundberg’s 15-stroke victory solidifies her lead in the season standings, extending the advantage to 36 strokes with just one round of golf remaining.
Pepper remains second in the season standings, six strokes ahead of third-placed Gracie Betts of Fortuna, who shot a season-best round of 89 on Monday.
Six of the girls posted rounds under 100, including four Arcata Tigers, and only four strokes separated the second through fifth golfers.
In addition to Pepper, Arcata’s Kyra Always (90), Kate Plumley (91) and Brook Bisgrove (96) all had big rounds.
Del Norte’s Molly Slayton was seventh on the day, shooting a season-best 100, with Eureka’s Marissa Highley (108), Fortuna’s Theo Nelson (109) and McKinleyville’s Sofie Sundberg (110) rounding out the top 10.
As a team, the Tigers stretched their season lead to a remarkable 318 strokes over second-placed McKinleyville.
The shortened season concludes on Thursday of next week at Beau Pre Golf Course.
