It didn’t take Arcata’s Kieran McNulty long to make an impact at the Division-I college level.

The former Tigers swimmer is a freshman at Cal Poly and made his competitive college debut with a pair of victories in a virtual dual meet against Utah on Oct. 31st.

McNulty paced the field in both the 1,000-yard and 500-yard freestyle events.

He finished the 1,000 in 9 minutes 24.42 seconds, and posted a 4:38.28 in the 500, both listed as team highlights for the Mustangs.

In the virtual meet, the two teams competed separately in their own facilities and compared times.

McNulty was a four-year swimmer for Arcata High as well as competing for the Humboldt Swim Club, before joining the Mustangs.
