By Ray Hamill — Bring on the Rams.
That’s the message from College of the Redwoods sophomore Thomas Nelson, who says the Corsairs won’t be backing down from the challenge of having to play the top team in the state next weekend.
The CR men won their playoff opener in basketball on Friday night, defeating Sacramento City College 75-56 to set up a matchup at City College of San Francisco next Saturday night.
The Rams also won their playoff opener against San Joaquin Delta College 113-82 and are unbeaten this season in 29 games.
Nelson, however, wants to make history with his teammates and said after Friday’s win that he’s looking forward to the opportunity of playing the Rams, and that the Corsairs won’t be backing down from the challenge.
Check out the postgame interview here, as Nelson talks about the challenge ahead and how the home crowd helped spur the players on against Sac City.
“We want to win, man,” Nelson said. “We want to go make some freakin history, and just play them and give them our best game.”
Next Saturday’s game is set for 7 p.m.
