The Ferndale Wildcats are North Coast Section champions in boys basketball for the first time in eight years after knocking off No. 2 seed California School for the Deaf in Fremont on Saturday night.
The No. 4 seeded Cats claimed the Division-VI championship with a 60-42 win over the Eagles.
The section championship is the fourth all-time for the Cats which moves them into a tie with St. Bernard’s and Hoopa for most ever by an H-DNL boys program.
It is also the first NCS championship for an H-DNL boys team since 2015.
And the Wildcats had to do it the hard way, beating the top two seeds on the road on the way to the championship.
On Wednesday, the upset the odds at top seed St. Bernard’s, winning a thriller 46-45.
Lots more to come on this historic night for the Wildcats.
