By Ray Hamill — College of the Redwoods basketball fans will get a dream doubleheader of playoff games on Friday night.

Early Monday afternoon, the men’s team was awarded the No. 8 seed for this year’s NorCal tournament and will open at home to No. 9 Sacramento City.

The game will be played on Friday night, along with the CR women, who also were awarded the No. 8 seed on Sunday and will host No. 9 Skyline on the same night.

The women tip off at 5:30 p.m., followed by the men at 7:30 p.m.

Sacramento City is 20-8 on the season, while the CR men are 21-5.

The winner of the men’s game will likely then play at No. 1 seed San Francisco City which is 28-0 heading into the postseason.
