Corsairs split a doubleheader in softball

The College of the Redwoods softball team split a pair of games on the road on Friday, beating Hartnell 11-1 in five innings before losing to West Valley 10-0, also in five innings.

Both games were played at West Valley College.

Amy Reyes continued her very impressive start to the season for the 6-3 Redwoods women, finishing with three hits on the day, including CR’s only hit in the loss.

Reyes was 2-for-3 with a pair of doubles and an RBI in the win.

Lindsey Scott pitched both games, allowing just five hits in the opener and walking just two batters all day.

CR got the day off to a flying start with five runs in the top of the first of game one.

Samantha Caughie had two hits and two RBIs in the win, while Shawnau Johnson also had two hits, including a double.

Grace Rosebrook also had a productive game at the plate, finishing 1-for-3 with a double and an RBI, whilePaige Johnson was 1-for-3 with two RBIs.

Jaycee Morais and Kartyn Jensen each also had a hit in the win.

The Corsairs continued to play good defense with no errors on the day.

The CR women continue a busy weekend with a pair of games on Saturday, playing San Mateo and American River at San Mateo College.
