PREP BASKETBALL ROUNDUP — The streak continues as SB girls close out L4 perfect again

The St. Bernard’s girls completed another perfect Little 4 campaign with a 57-40 win at South Fork on Friday night.

The Crusaders, who clinched a seventh straight title last week, have not lost a conference game since February 2014, a streak that now stands at 37 consecutive games.

Against South Fork, they took control early, opening up a 22-11 lead after the opening quarter.

MacKenzie Finck scored a team-high 14 points in the win, as the Crusaders improved to 6-0 in league and 20-5 overall, while teammate Shelby Jordan finished with 12 points and Saulele Tanuvasa with nine.

Also in the scoring column, Josie Peterson had seven points, Fa’apisa Fonoti six and Emma Wilson five.

For South Fork, which closes out league play 1-5, Kaylee Cotter scored a game-high 22 points, including four 3-pointers, while Kaylie Valk chipped in eight points.

BOYS

Ferndale 57, Hoopa 47

The Wildcats got the better of the Warriors at Hoopa to take third in the final Little 4 standings and qualify for next week’s Dick Niclai tournament.

The Cats will open at South Fork on Monday.

On Friday, Ferndale’s Emmitt Albee scored a game-high 20 points and Jenner Christiansen finished with 17 points, as the Wildcats improved to 2-4 in the L4 and 14-10 overall.

Tristen Martin also had eight points and Cody Sampson five.

For Hoopa, which closes out league play 0-6 (3-21 overall), John Smith scored a game-high 26 points, including 14 in the third quarter.

Aidan Mendes added six points and Carlos Aguilar five.
