By Ray Hamill — Despite winning their lone game last week, the College of the Redwoods men’s basketball team dropped one spot to No. 16 in the latest state coaches poll.

The Corsairs, who are 18-4 (5-1 in conference) and comfortably got the better of Lassen 75-58 on Saturday, peaked at No. 13 two weeks ago.

Regardless of their ranking, if the CR men win their final four conference games they will be crowned conference champions and get to host a playoff game.

The CR women, meanwhile, continue to rise in the rankings, climbing one spot this week to No. 17 after an 83-78 win over Lassen.

The CR women, who are 17-4 overall and 5-1 in the Golden Valley Conference, are ranked one spot behind conference rival Butte, which  is also 5-1 in conference.

The Corsairs also cracked the top-10 in NorCal for the first time, moving up two spots to No. 9.

Both CR teams hit the road this week for games at Siskiyous on Thursday and Butte on Saturday.
