By Ray Hamill — Those of us who know Frank Cheek have been waiting for this.

One of the most legendary coaches here on the North Coast, Cheek has teamed with Tom Trepiak to publish his autobiography, NO HOLDS BARRED Frank Cheek’s Life Story, which is now available at amazon.com.

From his childhood growing up in Kentucky, to his time in the Marines Corps, and culminating in a near half century of coaching at Humboldt State, Cheek’s life has been anything but ordinary and the success he achieved in his time with the Lumberjacks is unparalleled.

He built national championship contenders in both wrestling and softball, winning two national titles in the latter, and, according to the book sleeve, 15 of his teams finished in the nation’s top 10.

Cheek has touched countless of people here on the North Coast over the years (including some of us journalists) and now he gets his chance to share his story with all of us.

I just received my copy and I look forward to reading it.

I’ll let you guys know what I think, but I have a feeling I won’t be disappointed.

The book, which is priced at $18.95, also includes a foreword by Matt Maiocco.
