Arcata Tigers win big in Big 5 opener

The Tigers had plenty of offense on Friday night, especially in the second half, as they comfortably got the better of rivals McKinleyville by a score of 79-40 at Arcata High.

Niko Zambas led a balanced performance by the home team, finishing with 16 points, including four 3-pointers, while Dylan Kile, Mason Railsback and Aidan Atkins each scored 10 points.

Kile had 3 3-pointers.

With the win, the Tigers improved to 12-6 overall and 1-0 in the Big 5.

Jacob Stoker added nine points for Arcata and Brandon Bento-Jackson scored eight.

For McKinleyville, Michael Boatright scored a team-high 11 points, Jack Clancy scored seven and Earl Moon six.

The Panthers are now 0-2 in the Big 5 and 5-11 overall.
