Another exciting season of local motor sports action will come to an end this weekend, as the Redwood Acres Raceway gets set to hold the final race night of the year.
Saturday’s season finale will feature the NorCal Legend Series, Upstate Modified Series, bombers, the Dirt 4 Bangers and the annual Steve Taylor Memorial Fall Spectacular for the late models.
A packed night of racing action also includes the return of the Pacific Towing Pull & Park Trailer Race.
And that’s not all for local racing fans.
Thanks to an anonymous sponsor, all tickets for Saturday’s event are $5.
Barring extreme circumstances, it appears as though Brandon Barnwell will earn his third straight track championship in the Mid-City Motor World late model division and his fifth overall at the Acres.
He goes into the final night of action with a seemingly insurmountable 58-point lead over Jerry Peterson in the race for the season championship.
Landen Green has been one of the top competitors in the division all season long and is third in the standings, followed by Dennis DelBiaggio in fourth and Chad Grammer in fifth.
The late model feature will be a two-part, 100-lap race, with the winner of the first 50-lap race earning $1,000 and the overall race winner getting $2,000.
The NorCal Legend Series race appears wide open and should be another exciting affair, much like an earlier series race at the local raceway this season, which saw Kai Lovell edge Jarrett Dickson by just 0.011 seconds, the closest finish for the series at the Redwood Acres Raceway.
Those two drivers, along with Trey Daniels and Brandon White, should contend again for the checkered flag, as well as 2026 Lakeport Speedway Legends division champion Cody Winchel, Kylie Doss and Aiden Daniels.
Saturday night’s Upstate Modified Series race will determine who the series champion will be for 2026.
David Furia holds a 23-point lead over Luke Hall, while Christian Sanchez is mathematically alive in third, 37 points behind Furia.
Brian Rodello and Gene O’Dell round out the top five in the standings.
The battle for the bomber track championship is the closest of all divisions.
T.J. Sorrels holds a slender 14-point advantage over Stephen Ghilarducci, with Jimmy Sorrels in third and also within reach of the points lead, sitting just 23 points behind his son in third.
Jeff French is fourth in the standings going into the final weekend, while Sorhna Li has had a very respectable rookie campaign and is fifth.
In the nine stock division, Jarrett Mayo holds a 39-point lead over Cole Peterson and will be very difficult to top.
Peterson is the only driver within reach of the championship, with Garrett Wheeler, T.J. Rollins and Tanner Hrynkiewicz rounding out the top five in the standings.
In the race for the Dirt 4 Banger championship, Christian Sanchez appears to be a lock for the title with a 58-point lead over T.J. Applewhite.
Jimmy Sorrels is third in the division standings, followed by Matt Merrill and Gene O’Dell.
Practice is scheduled for Friday from 5 p.m. to dark.
On Saturday, the grandstands open at 3 p.m., with qualifying beginning at 4 and racing starting at 5.
