VIDEO — Overtime delight for Eureka girls against rivals

By Ray Hamill —  A pair of local rivals played out a highly-entertaining game at the Lady Panther Classic at McKinleyville High on Friday afternoon, with Eureka edging out a 56-48 overtime win over St. Bernard’s in girls basketball.

Check out some of the fourth-quarter and overtime highlights here, as the Loggers rediscovered their shooting touch at the right time, overcoming a late 11-point deficit for the win.

Both of these teams have impressed through the early season, along with a number of other H-DNL teams, including Fortuna, which is now 9-1 and will play McKinleyville (3-6) for the tourney championship on Saturday.

Sophia Chalmers scored 21 points for the Eureka girls, who are now 9-3.

Freshman standout Saulele Tanuvasa led the way for St. Bernard’s (8-3) with 16 points.

The tournament will close out on Saturday.
