The Humboldt Eagles 17U gave themselves some momentum ahead of this week’s Reno Muckdogs tournament, sweeping both ends of a doubleheader from the Southern Humboldt 76ers on Tuesday.
The Eagles took the opener 10-0 in five innings and won game two 12-3.
Brayden Youkey pitched four innings for the win in game one, getting plenty of offensive support.
Youkey allowed just two hits and helped his own cause by finishing 2-for-3 at the plate.
Ben Tehan pitched one scoreless inning in relief to secure the win, while also going 2-for-3 on offense.
Zac Anderson, Jenner Christiansen and Bode Joyner each also had a pair of hits in the win, including a double by Joyner, while Parker Rodgers added a triple.
Nick Dugan, who doubled, and Hayden Bode, who had two RBIs, each also had a hit.
Bode was instrumental again in game two, this time finishing with three hits, including a double, as well as driving in five of his team’s runs.
Youkey and Anderson each also had three hits in a 15-hit team performance.
Curtis Edge got the win on the mound, allowing three earned runs on five hits in four innings, while striking out five.
Rodgers allowed just one hit in three innings out of the bullpen.
No stats were immediately available for the 76ers.
Next up, the Eagles will play the West Coast Kings at the Muckdogs tournament, which gets under way on Thursday.
The 76ers are scheduled to play a doubleheader at Brookings-Harbor on Wednesday.
