Humboldt State women’s soccer senior Alex Jenkins was named a United Soccer Coaches (formerly the National Soccer Coaches Association of America) Third-Team All-Region selection.
“We couldn’t be more proud of Alex for earning this award, this is truly a fantastic way to end a storied career in the green and gold,” HSU head coach Paul Karver said. “We have had special players wear the green and gold, but there has not always been enough team success to warrant this type of recognition. This award is special for the whole program and not just the individual, the award doesn’t happen without everybody’s involvement.”
Jenkins is the first HSU women’s soccer player to earn All-Region honors since defender Megan Kendall in 2009.
“It has been nine years since our last All-Region player, and all the variables are matching up to show this is just the start of many more in the near future,” added Karver.
The midfielder led the Lumberjacks with nine goals and earned All-California Collegiate Athletic Association first-team honors for her performance this season.
She concluded her Green and Gold career tied for fifth place all-time in program history with 24 career goals.
Jenkins was also a member of the Google Cloud Women’s Soccer Academic All-District Team and compiled a 3.93 GPA in her kinesiology (pre-physical therapy) major.
HSU finished the season 6-9-2 overall, with a 3-8-1 record in the CCAA.
