Athletes of the Week — Big week for Puente, Martel-Phillips and Fortuna soccer

Sebastian Puente ran in four touchdowns to lead the Del Norte Warriors to an emotionally charged win over Fortuna in the Big 4 on Friday night, while Arcata cross country runner Riley Martel-Phillips won her third race of the year at McKinleyville on Wednesday.

And that was good enough to earn each of them Humboldt Sports Athlete of the Week honors.

The Fortuna boys soccer team also had a big week, winning at least a share of their sixth straight league title, earning them our Team of the Week honors.
