By Ray Hamill — Their season may have ended during the week, but a trio of talented Corsairs have been honored by the Golden Valley Conference.

Sophomore Lilianna Hoban and freshman Ellie Pesch each were named all-conference, while teammate Kyla Albee was included on the all-freshmen team.

The Corsairs had a balanced lineup this winter with different players rising to the occasion on any given night, but the three all-conference selections were among the team’s most consistent performers all year.

Hoban, a forward from Sonoma, was the only player on the roster to start every game and finished the season with 243 points and 158 rebounds, each of which was second best on the team.

She also had 27 steals.

Pesch, a guard from Eureka High, led the team with 289 points and was the Corsairs’ most dangerous threat from downtown.

She appeared in all 26 games, including 25 starts, and finished with a team-high 46 3-pointers, as well as 86 rebounds.

Albee, a former Ferndale Wildcat, also appeared in all 26 games and started 22.

She led the Corsairs with 184 rebounds and 34 blocks, while also scoring 189 points, and like Pesch she quickly adapted to the collegiate level.

Albee also had 82 assists, which was second best on the team, and 40 steals, which was third best.

The CR women finished the season with a record of 11-15 and were 5-3 in the Golden Valley Conference, where they tied Siskiyous for second, behind only Butte, the top-ranked team in the state.

Their season ended in an 83-51 loss against Sierra in the opening round of the playoffs on Wednesday night.
