Colton Boardman redeemed himself for the Humboldt Crabs on Sunday afternoon.

One night after lining into a game-ending double play in a 12-10 loss to the Stockton Pearls, the Crabs second baseman hit a walk-off grand slam in the bottom of the 10th inning in the series rubber match on Sunday, leading his team to a 9-6 win.

The Crabs also took game one of the weekend series, 10-2 on Friday night.

The series win was a nice response from the Crabs after dropping back-to-back Pacific Empire League games at Lincoln last week.

And Boardman played a big part in that with a clutch at-bat to end Sunday afternoon’s showdown.

“It was good redemption for Colton Boardman,” Crabs manager Jeff Giacomini said.

Boardman’s grand slam also was one of two home runs for the Crabs in the win, with Jamie Mullin finishing 2-for-5 with a home run, a double and three RBIs.

Seven different Crabs pitchers saw time on the mound, with Nathan Bunyard getting the win in relief.

Bunyard threw 1.1 innings and gave up one unearned run on no hits and no walks.

Adam Enyart, Kawana Soares and Joe Fagan each also had two hits in the win, including a double by Fagan.

Mullin also hit a home run in Saturday’s loss, as the Crabs rallied late to make thing interesting.

They trailed 12-5 going into the bottom of there eighth inning but would score five late unanswered runs to pull within two before the Pearls held on for the win and handed the Crabs a third loss in four games.

The Crabs will return to league play this week, hosting a three-game series against the Marysville Giants.

Game one is set for Tuesday night at 7, with the two clubs also playing on Wednesday hight at 5:30 and on Thursday at 7.
