Busy month for District 26 Little League continues this weekend

By Ray Hamill — With the District 26 Senior League and Junior League Tournament of Champions wrapping up earlier this week, local baseball fans will turn their attention toward the Majors TOC, which gets under way this weekend.

The 16-team tournament is being co-hosted by Arcata Little League and Blue Lake Little League, with four first-round games being played at each location on Saturday.

All four quarterfinals will be played at the Arcata field on Sunday, while the semifinals will be split and played at each location on Monday evening.

The tournament championship game will take place at Arcata on Tuesday night at 5:30 p.m.

The tournament features four teams each from Eel River and Redwood Empire, as well as three teams from McKinleyville, two each from Arcata and Southern Humboldt and one from Klamath Trinity.

Saturday’s four games at Arcata begin at 9 a.m. when the Eel River Giants play SoHum No. 1.

Arcata No. 2 and the Redwood Empire Orioles then play at 11:30 a.m., followed by McKinleyville’s Rich Well Drilling and the Redwood Empire Padres at 2 p.m. and the RELL A’s and McKinleyville’s Kernen rounding out the day’s action at 4:30 p.m.

At Blue Lake, meanwhile, the RELL Dodgers and Eel River Diamondbacks get the day’s action started at 9 a.m.

McKinleyville’s Trinity Diesel and the Eel River A’s then play at 11:30 a.m., followed by Klamath Trinity and the Eel River Yankees at 2 p.m. and Arcata No. 1 and SoHum No. 2 at 4:30 p.m.

The RELL Padres are the defending tournament champions after ending a seven-year wait for RELL by winning the District title in 2025.

Earlier this week, McKinleyville’s New Wave Realty won this year’s District Senior League TOC, while the Southern Humboldt Hawks took home the District Junior League title.
