Fortuna High School celebrated its senior student-athletes at the annual Husky ESPYS on Wednesday night.
And it was a particularly good night for Isabel Sanchez and Kavi Bolden, who were named the school’s female and male athletes of the year.
Sanchez was a two-time winner on the night.
The senior standout who is enjoying an impressive season in softball to close out her high school career, also received the award for Best Female Individual Performance.
Sanchez also was a standout soccer player for the Huskies in the fall.
Bolden, who is enjoying an outstanding spring in track and field and won three league White Stars at the H-DNL Championships in Crescent City last weekend, also starred for the Huskies on the football field, earning Big 4 MVP honors .
There were 12 other award winners honored.
Team of the Year honors went to the girls cross country team, which clinched a league title in the fall with four runners placing in the top seven at the H-DNL championships.
Cross country coach Vince Zinselmeir, who also serves as the Huskies track and field coach, was named Coach of the Year.
The Female Scholastic Athlete award went to Taylor Heussler, while Male Scholastic Athlete of the Year was Jack Gonzales.
Kiera Miles, Tyson Evanow and Jack Stacy were also honored.
Miles won the award for Most Inspirational Female Athlete, while Evanow and Stacy shared the Most Inspirational Male Athlete award.
The Best Male Individual Performance, meanwhile, went to Mako Limon, while Olivia Hayes won the Female Breakthrough Athlete award and Alex Sharkey won the Male Breakthrough Athlete award.
And rounding out the big winners on the night were Gary and Frank Trone, who were named Huskies fans of the year.
