The Hoopa Warriors rallied on Wednesday to keep their winning streak going as they swept a non-conference softball doubleheader at Trinity.

After taking game one 12-5, the Hoopa girls trailed by three late in game two, but would score five runs in the fifth inning and held on for an 8-7 victory.

The Hoopa girls, who improved to 17-7 on the season, have now won six straight and 10 of their last 12 games.

Angela Hern continued to have the hot bat for the team, following a big day in a doubleheader sweep at St. Bernard’s on Tuesday with five more hits over the two games.

Hern was one of three the Warriors to finish with three hits in game one, finishing 3-for-5 with a double.

Catcher Kalia Mitchell also had a good game in the win as she continues to impress late in the season.

Mitchell finished 3-for-5 with two doubles, while Tsisna McCovey was 3-for-4.

Rikki Lipscomb (2-for-4 with a triple) and Violet Abarr (2-for-5 with a double) also had multiple hits in the game-one win, while Kiera Ashley (1-for-3) and Monteya Colegrove (1-for-4) rounded out a 15-hit team performance.

Colegrove also got the two wins in the pitcher’s circle, striking out 12 and walking just four over the two games.

Sophomore Bella Baldy also saw some time in the circle in game two, pitching the first four innings.

Hern and Lipscomb continued to impress at the plate in game two, with both finishing 2-for-4.

Roxy Colegrove added a double, while Mitchell, Tylie McKinnon and Kiera Ashley each finished 1-for-3 and Baldy was 1-for-4.

The Warriors, who placed second to South Fork in this year’s Little 4, will now turn their attention to next week’s Charles Lakin Tournament, which will take place at the Arcata Sports Complex.

The Hoopa girls, who have received a No. 2 seed for the tournament, will open on Tuesday.
