The St. Bernard’s girls capped a busy few days on the basketball courts with an appearance in the championship game of the Sonoma Valley Dragons Classic on Saturday.
The Crusaders played the host school in the final and lost 52-25.
It was the team’s fourth game in three days, as they dropped to 2-2 on the young season.
The Crusaders defeated Montgomery in their tournament opener on Thursday and followed that with a victory over Benicia in the semifinal on Friday evening.
Later on Friday, they made the short trip to compete in the Cardinal Newman Showcase, filling in for a team that had dropped out at the last minute.
They played Division-1 California High School at the showcase and lost 59-27.
Junior team captain Samantha Sundberg had a big few days and led the Crusaders in scoring in all four games to get the season off to an impressive start.
The third-year varsity player finished with nine points in Saturday’s final and was named to the all-tournament team.
Alyssa Boham added six points in the loss.
Next up, the Crusaders will travel for the Mt. Shasta tournament, which gets under way on Thursday.
