The Eureka girls are gradually coming together on the basketball court.
On Saturday, they won for the third straight day at the Gridley tournament, defeating Las Plumas 59-28 in the championship game.
With the win, the Loggers improved to 5-1 on the young season.
More importantly, the team is showing steady improvement, according to head coach Cliff Napoleon.
“This first tournament is all about knowing your responsibilities on the court,” he said. “Last week we were not at all on the same page. This week was a little better, but we’re slowly understanding our jobs on the court.
“Happy to see the improvements.”
Nashaya Williams led the way for the Loggers over the three days and was named tournament MVP.
Eureka also defeated Corning 57-18 on Thursday and Gridley 61-27 on Friday.
The coach added that he thought the team played really well in Saturday’s championship game.
Tiarah Maualuga scored a game-high 20 points in Saturday’s win and was named to the all-tournament team.
Williams added nine points in the win, while Bella Gast and Madelyn Fazio each finished with eight points.
Next week, the Loggers will compete in the Windsor tournament.
