The Cal Poly Humboldt men’s wrestling team returns to Lumberjack Arena this weekend to host CSU Pueblo in a dual meet.
The action gets under way at 7 p.m. on Friday night.
The Lumberjacks are 5-0 in dual meets this year and will be looking to keep that impressive run going against a traditionally physical, upper-weight-strong ThunderWolves team.
And the CPH wrestlers will carry some momentum into the meet after a good showing at the recent Road Runner Open in Bakersfield.
The Jacks combined for 12 individual victories in Bakersfield, highlighted by five pins, four major decisions, and a tech fall
Freshman Lucas Vasquez delivered Humboldt’s fastest fall of the day with a 32-second pin at 149 pounds, while Darrell Nanpuya continued to shine at 141 pounds with both a tech fall and a major decision.
Multiple Jacks tallied bonus-point wins, giving the staff another valuable look at lineup depth as the team shifts from tournament to dual-meet competition.
Key points of emphasis for Humboldt this weekend, according to coaches, will include establishing first-period control, securing early takedowns, and avoiding extended time in bottom position.
