One of the most successful coaches in recent Cal Poly Humboldt sports history closed out his tenure with a win over one of the Jacks’ biggest rivals on Thursday.

CPH women’s soccer coach Grant Landy guided his team to a 2-1 win over Chico in his final game in charge at College Creek Field on Thursday.

On Friday, the Jacks officially launched a nationwide search for his replacement.

The CPH women closed out the season with a record of 7-6-6 and 5-4-4 in the California Collegiate Athletic Association.

In his six seasons in charge of the program, Landy enjoyed plenty of success, including leading the team to a CCAA Tournament championship and a place in the NCAA playoffs a year ago.

Heidie Munoz and Hayden Anderson scored the two goals in Thursday’s win, with the latter also assisting on Munoz’s goal.

The Humboldt men’s team also closed out the season on Thursday.

It was a disappointing campaign for the Jacks, who lost 11 straight games to close out, including a 4-2 loss to Chico on the final day.

The Jacks finished up 2-13-3 overall and 1-11 in conference.

The College of the Redwoods women’s soccer team was also in action this week.

CR hosted Butte on Tuesday and fell 2-0, dropping to 3-9-2 on the year and 1-3-1 in the Golden Valley Conference.

Next up, Redwoods will host Mendocino next Tuesday at 1 p.m., before closing out the season at Feather River next Friday.
