A memorable season for the Cal Poly Humboldt women’s soccer team continued on Friday night.

And on Sunday the Jacks will play for a California Collegiate Athletic Association tournament championship after a big win in their semifinal.

Playing in Monterey, the CPH women knocked off the No. 4 team in the nation, Cal Poly Pomona, 1-0.

It was the second tournament win for the No. 5 seeds and their second shutout in two tournament games.

Nicole Beauchemin scored the only goal of the game in the 54th minute, and that was enough for one of the stingiest defenses in the West Region, which held on down the stretch to secure the win.

The Jacks also shut out Cal State San Bernardino in tournament quarterfinal, which they won on penalty kicks.

Remarkably it was the team’s ninth shutout in 13 conference games this fall.

With the win, the Jacks improved to 7-5-8 on the season.

And they will face off against rival Chico State in Sunday’s tournament championship game, which will also take place in Monterey.

Chico State defeated Stanislaus State 2-1 in Friday’s semifinal.

Kick off is set for 3 p.m.

The two schools tied 3-3 in their regular season finale last week.
