Former Fortuna Husky Gabby Crosswhite led College of the Redwoods to a second-place finish at last weekend’s Golden Valley Conference cross country championships.

The championships were held at Mendocino College in Ukiah.

Crosswhite had the best showing of any CR runner and finished second for the women’s team, behind Butte’s Ariana Garcia.

Cadence Cahoon was the next best CR runner and finished 11th, followed by teammates Aesha Hang in 12th, Maya Brightman in 13th, and Carolina Perez in 15th.

Former Arcata Tiger Levi Browne led the Redwoods men and placed 10th overall.

As a team, the CR men finished third.

“Almost everyone got their personal best,” CR head coach Reed Elmore said. “So I can’t ask for more.”

CR’s Chase Jimenez finished just one spot behind Browne in 11th, followed by teammates Phoenix Davis in 14th, Aidan Davis in 15th and Thomas Santino 16th.

Santino broke his previous PR by a minute.

“We had a lot of really young runners that ran very well,” Elmore added.
