Former Hoopa Warrior Millennia McKindley enjoyed a career night over the weekend, as the College of the Redwoods volleyball team traveled to Butte for a Golden Valley Conference volleyball game.

McKindley was a definite bright spot for a shorthanded Redwoods team is playing with just seven players.

Butte won the match 25-22, 25-11, 25-20.

“(It) was another tough game with a lot of progress shown,” CR head coach Macy Thomas said. “Our team continues to show resiliency competing with the other schools in our conference that are not facing the challenges we are. I am very proud of them.”

McKindley finished the game with a career-high 10 kills and also led the CR women in hitting percentage (.364).

Olivia Hommer also continued her impressive season with a double-double, finishing with 10 kills and 12 digs.

Former St. Bernard’s Crusader Ella Hart, meanwhile, started for Butte and finished with three kills.

The 2025 SB graduate now has 82 kills on the season, which is third best on the team.

And she faced off against two of her former St. Bernard’s coaches, Thomas and her assistant, Rachel Evans, who both coached the Crusaders last year.

An early season-ending injury to influential middle blocker/outside hitter Quincy Collins has not helped the Redwoods women this fall, but Thomas believes her players are making progress.

“We are now focusing on what we need to do to finish sets, because we know we are capable,” she said.

With the loss, CR dropped to 0-4 in conference and 3-13 overall, while the Roadrunners improved to 2-3 and 8-15.

The Redwoods women will be back in action on Wednesday night, when they host Lassen at 6 p.m.
